Google marks 2024 solar eclipse with animation
Today marks the occurrence of a total solar eclipse, where the Moon will transit between the Earth and Sun, causing a complete blockage of sunlight. This rare celestial event, lasting four minutes, offers skywatchers a remarkable spectacle. Although not visible from India, regions like Colombia, Spain, Venezuela, Ireland, Portal, Iceland, the UK, and select Caribbean areas can witness a partial eclipse. In anticipation of this event, Google has prepared a unique animation. Searching “solar eclipse” on Google reveals an animated depiction showcasing the eclipse’s stages, including the Sun’s corona. NASA also offers a live stream of the eclipse starting at 5:00 pm GMT (10:30 pm IST) until 8:00 pm GMT (1:30 am IST), providing an immersive experience of this astronomical phenomenon.
