Hanoi ranked seventh and Hoi An 11th on Tripadvisor’s list of the world’s 25 best destinations this year, as part of its Travelers’ Choice Awards.
“The charming Vietnamese capital has aged well, preserving the Old Quarter, monuments, and colonial architecture while making room for modern developments alongside,” Tripadvisor described.
It recommended key attractions such as the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, and Hoa Lo Prison.

Hanoi welcomed 6.35 million foreign tourists last year, marking a 34% year-on-year increase, according to the city’s Department of Tourism.
Tripadvisor highlighted Hoi An, a central Vietnamese city, as “a well-preserved example of an important Southeast Asian trading port from the 15th to 19th centuries.”
