One Georgia beach made the top 10 in Tripadvisor’s Best of the Best Beaches in the U.S.
Recently the location of filming for scenes in The Color Purple, Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island was ranked No. 8 on the list of the nation’s best beaches. It ranked one spot ahead of Coligny Beach in Hilton Head, South Carolina, located just two hours north.
Driftwood Beach is known for “its iconic driftwood formed as a result of decades of erosion,” according to the Golden Isles website. “What was once a maritime forest is now a sandy shore lined with weathered tree trunks and branches, creating a sight that’s truly unique to the Golden Isles.”
