A sex worker in Birmingham was allegedly attacked and killed after her identity and location were posted on a online forum similar to TripAdvisor. The victim, believed to be in her 30s, managed her own profile on adult work website with the help of an acquaintance who would act as a driver for her appointments. After a disagreement, the driver allegedly revealed the woman’s real identity and working location on an online forum where users review sex workers. The victim’s body was found on August 14 after she was last seen by her driver on August 12. West Midlands police are treating the death as murder and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. The co-founder of the UK Network of Sex Work Projects, said that the case “clearly demonstrates the toxic culture that exists around sex work and the risk that it puts individuals under.”
