A passenger named Bárbara Nunes has expressed disappointment in the quality of the meals during her 9-hour TUI flight back to London Gatwick from Jamaica. Nunes, who is vegan, had pre-ordered the special meals four weeks in advance but was served an inadequate breakfast and dinner, with the latter being a “horrible” curry. The non-vegan breakfast offered only consisted of a blueberry muffin, a pot of fruit, yogurt, and a juice pot. Nunes advised vegan travelers to stay away from TUI, which claims to offer vegan meals but failed to deliver on that promise. TUI Airways operates to 79 destinations in 33 countries with more than 68 aircraft but lags behind other airlines like Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Singapore Airlines in terms of innovative vegan options. Nunes suggested that passengers bring their own meals and snacks if they have no choice but to use TUI.
