The Southeast Asian Games Torch Relay was held in Tagaytay City, Philippines on Monday, with officials and athletes from various sports participating, including representatives from cycling, taekwondo, football, kickboxing, and boxing. Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino highlighted the importance of the event for promoting peace and camaraderie in the region, and welcomed the torch in celebration of Cambodia’s first-time hosting of the games. The relay began near the Tagaytay City BMX and Skate Park and will travel to nine countries before arriving in Phnom Penh for the official start of the games on May 5. The Philippines will be represented by 840 athletes, a slightly reduced number from the POC’s initial plan of 905.
