The 2023 Mekong Tourism Forum (MTF) and related events will take place in Preah Sihanouk province from April 24-28. The forum, which is themed “Rethink for Resiliency and Digitalisation,” is expected to draw more than 250 delegates from 19 countries, and will include an exhibition on sustainable tourism, panel discussions, and presentations from national and international speakers. Meanwhile, the Vientiane-based Mekong River Commission (MRC) says the river is the 12th longest in the world and the seventh longest in Asia. The forum will offer “a means to promote new and intriguing tourism destinations,” said Pacific Asia Travel Association Cambodia Chapter chairman Thourn Sinan. Cambodia hopes that additional flights will be introduced to boost foreign visitor numbers, especially given that Asian tourists make up a large share of Cambodia’s visitors. Cambodia hosted the MTF in 2010, and Preah Sihanouk hosted the 2016 edition.
