Jakarta. Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is eyeing Muslim tourists from Indonesia to boost its tourism sector. With a population of around 270 million, which includes over 40 percent of Southeast Asia’s population, Muslim tourists from Indonesia will continue to be an important tourism segment.
According to the HKTB, in 2023, Hong Kong welcomed more than 252,000 Indonesian tourists, marking a 56 percent recovery compared to pre-pandemic arrivals. This positive momentum continued through February 2024, with arrivals reaching 101 percent compared to the same period before the pandemic.
