Hong Kong’s Labour Day fireworks to go ahead, organisers say amid weather concerns
Hong Kong tourism authorities have announced the Labour Day fireworks display will go ahead on Wednesday night, despite earlier concerns the event could be cancelled due to unstable weather.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board at 4pm issued a statement saying that the latest weather forecast meant the event could carry on as planned.
“As the weather conditions may remain unstable, it is recommended that visitors bring rain gear and stay updated with the latest weather reports from the [Hong Kong Observatory] to ensure their own safety throughout the event,” it said.
The board said it would continue to liaise with the Observatory and share additional updates if necessary.
The Observatory has predicted Wednesday will see squally thunderstorms and occasional showers.
