A distraught father in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh called up cops to complain that kidnappers were demanding millions of rupees to free his daughter. Turns out, she had faked it all.

In the police complaint, the man had said that he was sent pictures of his 21-year-old daughter, in which her hands and feet were tied. The kidnappers were demanding a ransom of of Rs 3 million, he added.
His daughter had been admitted to a coaching institute in Kota city in the northern state of Rajasthan.
After probing the case, the Kota police found that nobody committed any crime against her and that the kidnapping was faked by her.
“In the investigation so far, evidence shows that no crime has been committed against the girl and no kidnapping has taken place. From the evidence found so far, the incident appears to be false,” said Kota Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan.
