NEW DELHI: The European Union (
EU) has adopted a more favourable Schengen visa rule for Indians which will allow them to get multiple entry visa with longer validity upto five years. Unlike the US which gives 10-year visitor visas, Schengen visas have been a pain point for Indian travellers due to their short validity which requires multiple applications a very cumbersome process with tonnes of paperwork required from a majority of desi frequent travellers. The UK also offers longer term visitors visas for a very steep fees.
“According to the newly adopted visa ‘cascade’ regime for India, Indian nationals can now be issued long-term, multi-entry Schengen visas valid for two years after having obtained and lawfully used two visas within the previous three years. The two-year visa will normally be followed by a five-year visa, if the passport has sufficient validity remaining. During the validity period of these visas, holders enjoy travel rights equivalent to visa-free nationals,”…
