Udhagamandalam: The Ooty- Kalhatti ghat road, which was closed for descending tourist vehicles since October 2018 after a major accident, was reopened for light vehicles on Monday. The decision was taken by the Nilgiris SP, V Sasi Mohan after a consultation with the district administration. Earlier, a representation was made to the SP by residents of Masinagudi area who wanted the ghat road to be reopened for tourist vehicles.
The road has been closed for tourist vehicles for the past two years due to a number of accidents that occurred on the ghat section of the road.
