In the meeting with the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organisation, the President described this industry important and said, “The World Tourism Organisation’s knowledge of Iran and its cultural and civilisational capacities and tourist attractions will play an important role in introducing these capacities to various countries”.
Mr Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organisation, met and talked with Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi on the sidelines of the 17th International Summit on Tourism and Related Industries.
In this meeting, while expressing his satisfaction with the interaction and good cooperation of the World Tourism Organisation with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the President described it important to communicate with international organisations related to the tourism industry and encouraged the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organisation to visit tourist attractions in Iran and added, “The World Tourism Organisation’s knowledge of Iran and its cultural and civilisational capacities and tourist attractions will play an important role in introducing these capacities to various countries”.
Referring to the Iranophobia project of some western countries, Dr Raisi considered the colonial approaches as the objectives behind such actions and emphasised the necessity of confronting them.
Zurab Pololikashvili, the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organisation, also described the presence of the President in the international tourism summit as a rare event that shows the importance and dedication of the Islamic Republic of Iran government to the tourism issue and said, “This presence will have a very positive message for tourism industry activists in Iran and the region”.
Criticising the negative propaganda of some western media against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organisation considered the introduction of the rich culture and civilisation of the Iranian nation as well as the historical and touristic attractions of our country among the goals of his trip to Iran and said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has very good capacities in the field of tourism, especially health tourism, and the action of the government of this country in abolishing visas with dozens of countries is a very important step in the development of Iran’s tourism”.
