CU, a major convenience store brand in South Korea, on Monday announced a partnership with Seoul Tourism Organization, unveiling a special souvenir for foreign tourists visiting the country.
The “Seoul Snacks” commemorative souvenir features a combination of traditional Korean snacks including “yakgwa” and “gangjeong.”
What sets these souvenirs apart is their packaging, which captures the essence of travel with iconic imagery of Seoul landmarks such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and Namsan Tower.
The release of the souvenir was met with great enthusiasm, as CU and Seoul Tourism Organization jointly organized an event on November 1 at Myeongdong Art Theater Plaza, a popular spot for foreign tourists. In a demonstration of the immense interest and demand among foreign visitors, they snapped up 300 Seoul Snacks in the space of an hour.
CU has actively engaged in marketing efforts targeting foreign tourists since the beginning of 2023. In partnership with Seoul Tourism Organization, CU offers foreign tourist passes and introduces additional payment methods for international visitors, while CU stores at major tourist destinations provide immediate tax refunds.
“Seoul Snacks can truly make a Korean journey memorable for foreign tourists. They serve as distinctive K-convenience store souvenirs, adding a unique touch to their travel experiences,” an official from BGF Retail, CU’s parent company, said.
