Garden Grove city leaders and representatives from Anaheim tourism will be joining Anyang, a city in South Korea, to celebrate its 50th anniversary in September 2023. The eight-day trip will include visits to various locations and organizations in Anyang. The first half of the trip will focus on promoting tourism in Anaheim, while the second half will be dedicated to Anyang’s anniversary celebrations. The trip is expected to strengthen the partnership between Garden Grove and Anyang and promote increased visitation and business trade between the two cities. Garden Grove and Anyang have had a sister city relationship since 1987 and have participated in various exchange programs. The student exchange program between the two cities is set to resume next year after being paused due to the pandemic. Funding for the exchange program comes from the annual Strawberry Stomp 5K run/walk during the Strawberry Festival. Additionally, Garden Grove will be participating in the Hansang World Korean Business Convention in Anaheim. Visitors from Korea will be able to stay in Garden Grove and Anaheim hotels and explore local businesses during the convention. The trip to Anyang and participation in events like the business convention aim to promote cooperation, exchange, and economic growth between the two cities.
