The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) has announced that Seoul Metro has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Seoul Tourism Association (STA) to promote tourism and enhance subway convenience for international tourists visiting Seoul. This partnership aims to provide a convenient and smart travel experience for tourists in light of the anticipated increase in travel demand following the COVID-19 pandemic.
The collaboration between Seoul Metro and the STA will focus on promoting the “T-Luggage” delivery service, which allows tourists to have their luggage delivered to and from airports and subway stations. This service is available at 269 subway stations and four official T-Luggage locations, including Seoul Station, Hongik Univ. Station, Myeong-dong Station, and Gimpo Int’l Airport Station, as well as at Incheon Int’l Airport terminals.
To make reservations for the T-Luggage service, tourists can do so online through the tluggage.co.kr website, which is available in Korean, English, and Chinese. Offline reservations can also be made at the T-Luggage locations mentioned above.
The MOU between Seoul Metro and the STA is part of the efforts to achieve the Seoul Tourism Revitalization Plan (2022-2026), announced last September, which aims to attract 30 million tourists to Seoul. By strengthening cooperative partnerships and improving subway services, the collaboration aims to enhance the convenience of urban tourism in the city.
The number of tourists visiting Korea has seen a significant increase, with a 392.9% growth from the previous year, reaching 867,130 as of May 2023, according to data from the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Data Lab. This rise in tourists visiting Korea is attributed to the easing of travel restrictions and the gradual recovery from the pandemic.
With the T-Luggage service, international tourists visiting Seoul will have the convenience of having their luggage delivered to and from airports and subway stations. This will alleviate the burden of carrying heavy bags while navigating through the city. The service is expected to enhance the overall travel experience for tourists and contribute to the growth of tourism in Seoul.
In conclusion, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, through its collaboration with the Seoul Tourism Association and Seoul Metro, aims to promote tourism and enhance subway convenience for international tourists visiting Seoul. The focus on the “T-Luggage” delivery service is expected to provide a convenient and smart travel experience for tourists, contributing to the city’s goal of attracting 30 million tourists. With the anticipated increase in travel demand, this partnership strives to improve the convenience of urban tourism in Seoul and foster the growth of the tourism industry.
