The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization jointly held the Korea Travel Fair on October 11th in Seoul. The annual event aims to promote domestic tourism and provide opportunities for domestic and foreign industries to engage in business consultations and experience tourism activities.
This year’s fair focused on three tourism themes: luxury, medical and wellness, and Hallyu and performances. It featured business-to-business consultations and briefings for foreign buyers from 24 countries and participants from both domestic and foreign tourism sectors.
Visitors had the chance to experience various aspects of Korean tourism, including calligraphy, Hangeul stamp making workshops, traditional tea demonstrations, and Oriental medicine. Information was also provided on 64 recommended wellness tourist sites, including nine newly designated ones for this year.
The fair also showcased a virtual reality space where visitors could experience K-dramas, as well as an exhibition related to the “Welcome Daehangno” festival in Seoul’s theater district of Daehangno. The event also highlighted tourism cities selected in 2020, such as Busan, Gangneung, Mokpo, Andong, and Jeonju.
The Second Vice Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Jang Miran, stated that the fair serves as a platform to introduce various aspects of Korean tourism in a three-dimensional and realistic manner. It aims to provide foreign buyers with appealing products to introduce to their home countries and open new markets for domestic tourism.
