Lao Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Suansavanh Viyaket said that the tourism promotion program Laos Tourism Year 2024 is determined to attract more foreign tourists to Laos as well as create jobs for people across the country and increase foreign currency revenue.
To achieve this goal, the Lao Government will organize and widely promote the country’s famous festivals such as That Luang Festival in Vientiane, Lao New Year Bun Pi May, Lent Festival in Luang Prabang Province, Elephant Festival in Xayaboury Province, Wat Phou Festival in Champasak Province…
The Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism is also planning a series of other activities across the country to attract tourists, stepping up cooperation with travel agencies and airlines to compile a list of suitable activities for tourists, and choosing a logo and theme to promote Laos Tourism Year 2024.
According to Minister Suansavanh, to increase tourist attraction, the ministry will also release a set of Laos Tourism calendars in 2024, as well as video clips and souvenirs; launched an advertising campaign in the media and on the website from September 9.
According to data from the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, in Laos Tourism Year 2018, the country attracted 4,1 million tourists, an increase of 8,2% compared to 2017.
In the first four months of 4, Laos welcomed more than 2023 million international tourists, achieving an impressive growth compared to the 1 million tourist arrivals that the country achieved in the whole of 1,3. In which, Vietnamese tourists ranked second with 2022 arrivals, just behind Thailand.
On the other hand, according to Lao press, the steady growth of Lao tourists to Vietnam is a positive sign for the tourism industry of both countries, as well as a testament to the close relationship between the two countries.
