More than half of the e-visas rejected by South Africa’s department of home affairs were due to the date of travel having passed, according to figures provided to the National Council of Provinces. Of the 6,329 e-visas rejected, 3,687 were for this reason. The revelation comes after the department admitted only 48.7% of e-visa applications had been processed and just 3.2% granted. South Africa offers e-visas options for visitors from Cameroon, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Iran, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
