Singapore integrated resort Marina Bay Sands has introduced new guidelines essentially banning large tour groups from gathering on the property.
In an advisory published over the weekend, MBS said the use of handheld signage, flags and portable microphones for large tour groups is no longer permitted on property, and that tour guides should not conduct group briefings on property.
This, the company explained, is in order to “minimize disruptions to operations and the experience of other guests.”
Although such tour groups are not banned from entering MBS, group briefings must be conducted either on the coach prior to arrival or in exterior public areas. The groups are not permitted to loiter on property, including in the Hotel Lobby, Sands Expo & Convention Centre or The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
MBS said the new guidelines aimed to “facilitate access for tour guides who are bringing large groups of tourists to the integrated resort” and “ensure an optimal guest experience for visitors.”
MBS operator Las Vegas Sands recently reported an all-time high in quarterly Adjusted Property EBITDA of US$544 million at its Singapore integrated resort in 4Q23, double the US$273 million reported during the same period in 2022 and up from US$491 million in the September 2023 quarter.
The property generated Q4 revenues of US$1.06 billion, including casino revenues of US$741 million.
