The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) participated in ITB Asia in Singapore to promote sustainable tourism and unique travel experiences. The event served as a platform for TAT to demonstrate Thailand’s readiness to welcome tourists, with a focus on responsible practices and authentic cultural encounters.
Operating under the slogan “Visit Thailand Year 2023: Amazing New Chapters,” TAT highlighted its alignment with the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model. This strategy aims to encourage responsible tourism development, attract quality tourists, and ensure that tourism income is distributed more widely across Thailand’s various regions. The initiative promotes exploring off-the-beaten-path destinations and supports community-based tourism.
At ITB Asia, TAT’s booth, located at G27-G41, hosted 20 Thai tourism operators, including Destination Management Companies (DMCs), hotels, and attractions. These operators engaged in networking and business discussions, showcasing a diverse range of products and services. The presence underscored Thailand’s commitment to “Meaningful Travel,” encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in local culture and engage with communities.
TAT also emphasized key initiatives designed to foster responsible tourism, such as the “Amazing Thailand Sustainable Tourism Goals (STGs),” the “7 Greens Concept,” and “TAT Low Carbon Tourism.” These programs aim to minimize environmental impact while enhancing visitor experiences. Additionally, new tourism segments including health and wellness, medical tourism, gastronomic tourism, sports tourism, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism were actively promoted to diversify Thailand’s appeal.
