The Cape Town and Western Cape Convention Bureau, at the Western Cape’s tourism, trade and investment promotion agency, Wesgro, has secured 30 new bids for the province in the last financial year (April 2023-March 2024).
Speaking of the impact that these business events will have on the economy of the Western Cape, Minister of Finance and Economic Opportunities, Mireille Wenger, said: “For the first time in the history of Wesgro’s Convention Bureau, the economic impact of the business events secured exceeds the R1bn mark, reaching an estimated economic impact of R1.029bn (€50.4m).
“This is fantastic news for the province and more so for the many jobs across hospitality, food and beverage services and tourism sector that the thousands of delegates attending these conferences and meetings will support.”
