Tourism has been a key driver of economic growth in Vietnam, and after reopening its doors to tourists in March 2022, the nation saw an increase of around 3.7 million visitors last year. The tourism sector has showed indications of recovery in the first quarter of 2022, with arrivals exceeding 60% of pre-pandemic levels. This year, Vietnam hopes to attract 8 million international visitors and generate income of around US$27 billion, or 90.3% of levels seen before the pandemic. However, efforts must be made to protect existing cultural sites, natural areas, and species variety. The Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) is an expo showcasing Vietnamese businesses in the travel and tourism industry, with the next edition scheduled to take place in April 2024.
