Vietnam’s tourism industry is set to rebound to pre-pandemic levels by 2025. The sector contributed 9.2% to the country’s annual gross domestic product in 2019, garnering $30.2 billion in revenue and hosting 18 million international visitors. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism aims to attract 35 million international visitors by 2030, with 13% to 15% annual growth. Traditional markets will be targeted more, as well as emerging markets such as India and the Middle East which will receive new marketing campaigns. Vietnam is also set to develop its medical and leisure tourism with several planned projects. In the first two months of 2021, Vietnam received 1.8 million international visitors, raising hopes for a $27.3 billion yield equivalent to 90.3% of pre-pandemic levels.
