Vietnam has been chosen by Brekke Fletcher, a writer for global travel magazine Lonely Planet, as a culinary destination to explore in the Elsewhere section for its excellent cuisine. During Fletcher’s nine-day trip, she delved into the distinctive cuisines of various regions of the country alongside photographer Thanh Huynh. Fletcher called the Vespa ride through the streets of Hanoi one of her highpoints, getting to taste diverse flavors in the market, like Chinese roasted duck and a French baguette. Other notable experiences were: entering Ben Tre province and island-hopping on a small-boat tour in the Mekong Delta; spending time on Lan Ha Bay and kayaking into a sea cave; and dining with a Hanoian family to savour cha ca, a freshwater fish marinated in fragrant spices.
