Foreign online travel agencies (OTAs) dominate the Vietnamese market, accounting for 80% of the industry’s market share, leaving domestic OTAs with just a small percentage of transactions, according to a report by The Outbox Company. International brands such as Traveloka, Booking.com, Agoda, Expedia and Trip.com feature in the top choices of Vietnamese travelers, with no domestic OTA platforms amongst the top choices. Traveloka has experienced significant growth, with over 40% of travelers choosing it in Q1 2023, while Booking.com was ranked second. Domestic travelers prefer international OTAs due to their extensive experience in online transactions, global operations and established brand names with a solid reputation and strong financial backing.
