Vietnam’s “unique culture” could help attract more tourists, according to Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, deputy governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand. He said Vietnam needs to improve its infrastructure with a particular focus on transport infrastructure, in order to make tourists’ stays more enjoyable, while it should also do more to promote its culture. Songrit Pongern, a Thai journalist and cultural researcher who has visited Vietnam many times, said it would benefit from introducing popular festivals that foreigners can join in with, such as the Songkran Festival celebrated by ethnic minorities in the North.
