The annual Vietnam Travel Mart (VITM) will take place in Hanoi from April 13-16, 2023, with the theme of Culture Tourism. The event will gather 600 agencies from 50 provinces and cities throughout Vietnam, with 15 other countries and territories participating. There will be 450 stalls offering over 10,000 tours and tourism products at favourable prices. Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, stated that culture has always been an important part of various economic sectors, including tourism, and that promoting cultural tourism must be quite different from other kinds of tourism products. The event will feature a forum on developing cultural tourism, and a workshop on plastic rubbish, which is a burning issue in sustainable tourism. Binh also stated that the focus is on developing culture, introducing unique features of tradition, history, and culture into tourism products and spreading them to the world. Additionally, 50 provinces and cities of Vietnam will join the event and bring along their special products and dishes. The organizers forecast the event will draw thousands of buyers and some 2,500 enterprises, with 60,000 people expected to participate. The VITM has become an important annual event in the tourism sector, where domestic and international enterprises exchange information on destinations and tourism products, and enhance their knowledge of tourism, professional tourism skills and tourism development trends in the future.
