The annual conference of the Tourism Promoting Organisation for Asia Pacific Cities (TPO) for Vietnamese members was held in Vung Tau city, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, on March 17, 2021, with the theme “Green Convergence.” The event was attended by TPO Secretary General Woo Kyungha, as well as leaders from Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat, Bac Ninh, Da Nang, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Long An, and Vung Tau. The conference offered participants the opportunity to explore local tourism products and promote the city’s images to other cities and provinces in Asia-Pacific. The delegates discussed previous regional meetings and upcoming activities, and preparations for the 11th TPO Council’s meeting in Jeonju, South Korea in September. The representatives from Vung Tau and Da Lat cities presented on “Green Convergence” – the official theme of “Vietnam Tourism Year 2023” with efforts to promote sustainable tourism development in Vietnam. Delegates also visited booths showcasing specialties and landmark destinations of Vung Tau city. TPO was established in 2002 at the fifth Asian-Pacific City Summit (APCS) in Fukuoka, Japan, as a network of tourism cities in the Asia-Pacific region. Vung Tau city became its 124th member in 2019. Currently, Vietnam has eight member cities in the organization.
