Dublin – The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that Martina Brysch, from the University of Groningen, Netherlands is the recipient of the 2021 IATA FACE-UP award. FACE-UP is a competition for recent university graduates whose thesis is on the subject of innovation and transformation in air transport logistics (e.g. air cargo, supply chain management, mobility, IT solutions, etc.).
Brysch’s thesis addressed turning air cargo into a Physical Internet (PI), a new logistics concept that proposes goods be moved in easy-to-interlock intelligent containers, called PI containers, which are designed to optimally flow in hyperconnected logistics networks. PI has the potential to help achieve hyperconnectivity in the global freight logistics system, strengthening economic and environmental sustainability. The award was presented at the 14th World Cargo Symposium (WCS) in Dublin.
“Among many worthy candidates, I congratulate Martina for an outstanding achievement….
