The DT Implement project supports countries in their transition to low carbon transport systems. It promotes a shift to sustainable and smart passenger and freight transport and the use of clean energy.
The project – part of ITF’s Decarbonising Transport (DT) initiative – advances policies and technologies that improve energy efficiency and reductions in CO2 and local pollution from transport. In addition, it develops policies that enhance social equity and inclusivity while helping economic growth.
Decarbonising Transport: Driving Implementation Actions, or “DT Implement”, has a specific focus on “hard to abate” transport modes, including heavy-duty road freight transport, shipping and aviation.
The transport sector is responsible for 23% of direct energy-related CO2 emissions, 3 to 4% more when accounting for emissions on a well-to-wheel basis, and even more when taking into account vehicle manufacturing and infrastructure construction.
