Singapore’s daily quota under the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) scheme will be increased from the current 2,500 to 4,000 when its VTLs with Australia, South Korea and Switzerland take off later this month. Transport Minister S Iswaran gave this update on Monday (Nov 1) in reply to Parliamentary questions. He said Singapore is also in talks with several countries for VTLs, especially its regional neighbours. He stressed the need to “do it well rather than scale up fast”. He said even as Singapore seeks to restore connectivity with the rest of the world, safeguarding public health is the “utmost priority”. The scheme has to be scaled up progressively in tandem with the public health assessments of each region’s COVID-19 situation.
