The new VTLs are between Singapore and Thailand, Cambodia, Fiji, the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Turkey. Travellers from Thailand will be allowed to enter Singapore from 14 December while travellers from the other five countries may enter Singapore from 15 December, according to a statement by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).
Mayumi Soh of Pinsent Masons MPillay, the Singapore joint law venture between MPillay and Pinsent Masons, said: “The recent increase in number of VTLs will surely be seen as a sign of the world slowly reopening again. It remains to be seen what impact, if any, the identification of the Omicron variant will have on these VTLs.”
Fully vaccinated travellers from VTL countries will be allowed to enter Singapore without quarantine requirements and will instead need to take Covid-19 tests.
