SITA is partnering with Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH), southern Taiwan’s busiest airport, to implement SITA Smart Path, an advanced solution aimed at enhancing the passenger experience. This deployment is expected to be fully operational later in 2024 and will introduce a suite of self-service technologies designed to streamline the passenger journey from check-in to boarding.
The core of the new system at KHH will be an airport common-use facial recognition platform. This technology will allow passengers to use their face as a secure token for various touchpoints throughout the airport, facilitating a faster and more seamless experience. Alongside facial recognition, the airport will also integrate SITA Flex and SITA Smart Path Kiosks for self-service check-in, as well as SITA Smart Path Bag Drop units. These additions are intended to reduce queues, improve operational efficiency, and offer passengers greater convenience and control over their travel process.
The initiative aligns with Kaohsiung International Airport’s commitment to digital transformation, as stated by Nicole Lee, General Manager of KHH. The goal is to provide a smarter and more efficient airport environment. Sumesh Patel, President of Asia Pacific for SITA, highlighted SITA’s role in enabling airports to adopt innovative digital solutions that enhance both passenger flow and overall operational performance. This project also supports the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) of Taiwan’s strategy to embrace advanced technologies, ensuring a modern and enjoyable travel experience for passengers at KHH.
