NEW HAVEN — The Federal Reserve isn’t the only one taking action to counteract the effects of inflation: Avelo Airlines announced an “inflation crushing” sale starting Thursday that will cut the prices of flights from Tweed New Haven Regional Airport to 14 destinations by 50 percent, if booked by June 23.
The announcement coincided with the Fed’s announcement that it is raising key interest rate by three-quarters of a percentage point in an effort to cool inflation.
Avelo also announced additional flights to Orlando, home of Disney World, “with up to three daily flights from Tweed on a more specious jetliner.”
In order to get the lower fares, travelers must book online at AveloAir.com using the promo code “HALFOFF,” Avelo said in a release.
There are no blackout dates. Travel must be completed by Nov. 9.
“This significant discount is our way of making travel easier and more affordable amidst skyrocketing inflation,” said Avelo Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy. “Our purpose is to inspire travel by helping our customers save money so they can travel more.”
By offering the discount, “we want to help travelers continue to explore exciting destinations, create new memories and reconnect with family and friends during this economically challenging time,” Levy said.
Avelo currently flies to and from 13 destinations from Tweed, its first East Coast base, including six in Florida: Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, West Palm Beach, Fort Myers, Sarasota/Bradenton and Orlando, which Avelo recently announced will be its second East Coast base.
Other destinations include Chicago’s Midway International Airport, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, Raleigh/Durham, Nashville, Tenn., Charleston, S.C., Myrtle Beach,…
