Digit, the Indian insuretech unicorn, has had its initial public offering (IPO) plans delayed after the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) rejected its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) in January 2022. The issue related to Digit’s employee stock appreciation rights scheme, which provided bonuses based on the company’s stock price increases during a specific period, a practice prohibited for public companies under Indian regulations. However, Digit has confirmed that it is reviewing modifications to the scheme to comply with SEBI’s requirements. The IPO consists of a fresh equity share issuance worth INR 1,250 crore and an offer for sale of 10.94 crore equity shares from existing shareholders and a promoter. Go Digit Insurance provides insurance services across various segments, such as motor, health, travel, property, and marine. Its investors include cricketer Virat Kohli and his wife, actor Anushka Sharma.
