INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A project to add travel lanes to Interstate 70 between Mt. Comfort Road and Greenfield is back underway, the Indiana Department of Transportation says.
During the overnight hours, westbound traffic on I-70 shifted to the eastbound lanes between mile marker 100 and mile marker 105.
At the same time, the westbound ramps to and from State Road 9 at Greenfield (Exit 104) were closed. INDOT expects the ramps to reopen in early June.
The State Road 9 ramp to I-70 westbound will be closed for about 70 days, with a detour directing traffic to I-70 eastbound to State Road 109 (Exit 115) and then back to I-70 westbound.
The I-70 westbound ramp to State Road 9 will be closed for about 90 days, with a detour via Mt. Comfort Road (Exit 96) to I-70 eastbound to State Road 9.
The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 55 mph. INDOT advises drivers to slow down, use caution, and avoid distractions while traveling through the area.
