Expedia has launched a new feature that uses OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT, to provide “conversational trip planning” for users in the beta testing phase. The feature offers suggestions for destinations, hotels and activities to users, and saves the suggested hotels within the app, enabling easy date checking, booking and adding of flights, cars or activities. The chatbot, however, is not able to book flights for users or offer the same range of services as a human travel agent. The service is only available on Expedia’s iOS app and is not yet available for Android users.
