Google released limited access to its own version of ChatGPT, called Bard, last week. However, compared to what is available today, the chatbot’s abilities are not particularly impressive, and it offers only general answers. While the chatbot does attempt to give some travel pointers, including tips and links to Google search results, it is not always accurate, and its itineraries tend to include a version of an unhelpful disclaimer. Bard is an experiment in user feedback, and Google has not yet updated its search engine with generative AI technology. The company is still unsure how it will monetise Bard, and its current lack of integration with generative AI puts it behind Microsoft’s revamped Bing search engine, which has already started discussing monetisation possibilities with ad agencies.
