Know for his business acumen with interests in hospitality and travel, the 48-year-old “suffered a massive cardiac arrest this morning and succumbed to it.”
The group, in a statement said: “We have not only lost our leader, our visionary but the world has lost an astounding human being. The Bhatia family is in a state of deep shock..”
Bhatia brought the travel technology giant Amadeus brand to Indian sub continent in 1994. He set up luxury hospitality chain Roseate Hotels & Resorts which has properties in India and the UK.
Bhatia is survived by his architect wife Smriti Bhatia and his two children, Arnav and Saina.
The Travel Agents Association of India remembered Ankur as “a dynamic leader with a vision in travel, tourism, hospitality and aviation. He was a true entrepreneur and a visionary at heart. Soft spoken, courteous, energetic, full of life and loved by all in the Industry.”
