Before the pandemic, low-cost airfare made local and international travel more accessible to everyone, while online booking platforms such as Klook were the go-tos of those looking for good deals on attractions, transfers and even hotel bookings.
Before I learned about Klook, I truthfully didn’t use booking platforms when I traveled. For theme parks, I’d just buy tickets at the entrance, not realizing the substantial discounts I’d get from these apps.
Travel and leisure booking platform Klook is now focusing on products and services for domestic travelers in Asia, as well as digital solutions to support its merchants since there are still many restrictions on international travel.
In January 2021, Klook raised $200 million in Series E funding. Part of Klook’s strategy to help strengthen local travel is digitize the experiences booking sector and launch new travel niches such as staycations and travel bubbles.
