The most popular European destinations with UK holidaymakers, including Spain, Italy, France and Greece, are all on the amber list, but a handful could be added to the quarantine-free green list at the next travel review.

The airline industry, including Heathrow airport, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, has added pressure on ministers to remove self-isolation for fully vaccinated passengers arriving from amber-list countries.
With school summer holidays fast approaching, sun-seekers are hoping relaxed rules may ease travel planning for return journeys, however restrictions still apply on entering destinations.
Here are the current entry requirements for British travellers to some amber list countries:
France
For those who are not fully vaccinated, travellers will only be allowed entry for essential reasons – for example, if they have French residency. They must complete a certificate of international travel and agree to seven days’ self-isolation.
For fully vaccinated travellers, they will be allowed to enter if they provide:
- proof of vaccination status. France will accept the NHS app (England) or an NHS letter (England, Wales and Scotland)
- proof of a negative PCR test result within 72 hours of departure (or an antigen test within 48 hours of departure)
- a completed “sworn statement” or certificate of international travel
