CAIRO – 25 April 2024: Egyptian Minister of tourism Ahmed Eissa announced Thursday that the first quarter of this year witnessed growth in the volume of incoming tourist traffic to Egypt by 3% – 4% compared to the first quarter of 2023, which was a record year for tourism in Egypt, expressing his optimism that the coming period will witness further growth.
The Minister also spoke about the financial reform that the Supreme Council of Antiquities is witnessing, and what is being done to maximize and increase the volume of the Council’s revenues, as a scientific institution and owner and operator of antiquities, in addition to financing the development and restoration projects and providing the expenditure that archaeological sites and museums need in a way that works to preserve them.
