tourism Police in Bali have been conducting spot checks at top attractions to ensure that all foreign visitors have been paying their tourism tax.
The newly introduced fee costs IDR 150,000 per person per visit to the province.
The Bali Province tourism Office along with the tourism Satpol Police, have been conducing spot checks on tourists this week.
Patrols have been carried out in Uluwatu so far, with patrols coming up in Tanah Lot, Ulun Danu Beratan and Tampaksiring near Ubud soon.
Speaking to reporters from Uluwatu, the Head of the Bali tourism Service, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, said that he and his team have explained the tourist levy policy to the tourists concerned and guided them to make payments via the LoveBali application.
He said “The percentage [we’ve seen today] is 5-10 percent who have not paid and at that time they immediately paid using Love Bali, we will guide them.”
