Devalsari region in Tehri Garhwal district is likely to be declared as the first biodiversity heritage site of Uttarakhand, officials said Tuesday.
Rajiv Bhartari, Head of Forest Force and Director of Uttarakhand Biodiversity Board said that they have received a proposal from locals to declare the area as a heritage site for its rich biodiversity, reports Suparna Roy.
“This is the first time that villagers have approached us to declare a particular area as a biodiversity site. Different kinds of flora and fauna including smaller species like butterflies and moths are found abundantly in Devalsari region. We are considering the proposal and once approved it will become the first state declared biodiversity heritage site,” said…
