The Association of Tourism Enterprises of Cyprus welcomes the passage by the House of Representatives of legislation that criminalizes the vandalism of road signs in the country.
In a statement, the Association considers this phenomenon to be steadily increasing and dishonorable for a country aspiring to be considered a quality tourist destination.
Instead, it undermines the efforts of those organizations trying to promote the advantages and unique characteristics of our country abroad (culture, short distances, user-friendly road network).
The statement notes that the Association took the lead in addressing the problem and hope that the new legislation will be implemented promptly and effectively, and that the imposed penalties will indeed be deterrent.
