For the first time in four years, Brazil is enforcing visa policies on visitors, leaving thousands of soon to be Aussie travellers uncertain about entry to the Latin country.
All incoming visitors will need to ensure they have the right permissions to enter the country prior to 1 October and will also apply to citizens from the United States, Canada and Japan.
Brazil’s foreign ministry said the visa requirements are not new, in fact they are a reversal of a decision from the previous Bolsonaro government in 2019 that was aimed at boosting tourism.
“Brazil does not grant unilateral exemption from visiting visas, without reciprocity, to other countries,” the ministry said.
