A video of Air India ground staff transferring luggage from an aircraft to a luggage cart is doing rounds on the internet for all the wrong reasons. Shared by Ishwar Dwivedi on Instagram, the video shows the staff throwing the passenger’s musical instruments and luggage belonging to other passengers into the luggage cart.
The text on the video Dwivedi shared reads, “This is how Air India handles our expensive musical instruments. Please spread this video my friends and question the Air India Authorities.” Sharing the video, Dwivedi wrote, “@airindia @ratantata is this the way you handle fragile item??”

The now-viral video was shared on April 20 and amassed over 12 million views and countless reactions, dividing the platform. While a section of social media users slammed the airline, others claimed every airline practices poor management of its passengers’ luggage. Reacting to the video, a user wrote, “This is not something specific to Air India. Also, the baggage handlers are humans who lift bags all day long.”
Another user was of the opinion that the ground staff will throw the luggage harder if it has a ‘handle with care’ sticker and said that’s how an employee’s mind functions. “They’re purposely throwing the bag to damage it,” a third user wrote.
Last month, Marathi actor Siddharth Jadhav expressed his frustration on social media after finding his luggage damaged during an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Goa. In a video, the actor sarcastically said in Marathi, “I have travelled from Mumbai to Goa with IndiGo Airlines. Look at how carefully the airline has handled my luggage with care. Only the handle of the bag seems to be in good condition. I truly appreciate the attention to detail the airline has shown in handling my luggage. I have nothing further to add. Thank you for taking such great care of my belongings.”
