Delta Launches 3 New Hawaii Routes

While many airlines and airports are busy preparing for the upcoming summer travel season, major players like Delta are thinking one step ahead. The Atlanta-based carrier is expanding its footprint in the tropical state of Hawaii with three new nonstop routes connecting Atlanta to Maui and Detroit and New York JFK to Honolulu. Delta already flies to these destinations with a stopover at other mainland airports. However, the new nonstop routes will ensure better connectivity for those looking to holiday in Hawaii.

Delta’s new routes attempt to capitalize on the winter travel demand by giving travelers the convenient option of a direct flight. The airline’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, Joe Esposito, said in a statement:

“Breathtaking beaches, a vibrant culture and a competitive economy make Hawaii a highly sought-after destination for families and adventurists alike. We’re guaranteeing more choice for our customers this winter, alongside Delta’s award-winning hospitality and industry-leading reliability.”

The Hawaiian holiday

November and December are two of the most-busiest months in Hawaii in terms of tourist footfall. According to the Hawaii Tourism Authority, around 1.3 million visitors arrived at the Hawaiian Islands in November-December 2021 compared to 1.7 million for the same period in pre-pandemic 2019. The authority said most of these tourists were from mainland US.
