Another stock of 100,000 Pfizer vaccine doses arrives in the island

Aug 16, Colombo: Another consignment of 100,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine purchased by the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) arrived in Sri Lanka early Monday, an airport official said.
The consignment was brought to the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport from Doha on a Qatar Airways flight arrived at 2:30 this morning.
The consignment of vaccines has been transported to the Central Warehousing Complex in Colombo by trucks of the Sri Lanka Pharmaceuticals Corporation with special refrigeration facilities.
This is the seventh batch of the Pfizer vaccines purchased by Sri Lanka. The first consignment of 26,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine arrived in Sri Lanka on July 05.
The vaccine, manufactured by Pfizer in the United States, is primarily intended for expatriates seeking employment or study abroad.
